The ARENAS Glossary of Far-Right Extremism, coordinated by Steven Forti, continues to expand its reach across Europe. What began as a single serialised publication in Italy has grown into a genuinely multilingual project, with new editions now running in Denmark, Finland, France and Spain alongside the ongoing Italian release.
In Italy, MicroMega continues to publish a new glossary entry every two weeks, each accompanied by a podcast episode. The series is set to run until March 2027, giving Italian readers and listeners a steady stream of accessible, well-researched entries on the language and logic of the far right.
Since February, the Finnish monthly magazine Voima has also started publishing the glossary: a new article will be published every month.
Since mid-July, the Danish outlet Solidaritet has been publishing its own edition of the Glossary, and will continue to do so until March 2027, in step with the Italian release. All published Danish entries are collected on a dedicated category page on the Solidaritet website, making it easy for readers to follow the series as it grows:
Since the end of July, Le Grand Continent has also been publishing the Glossary in both French and Spanish, under the title “Vocabulary of the Far Right: Towards a Critical Philology of Our Twenties.” New instalments will continue to appear in the coming weeks. Readers can follow the full dossier in either Spanish or French
Why it matters
Publishing the Glossary of Far-Right extremism in multiple-language editions is more than a translation exercise. Extremist narratives travel across borders, and terms that gain traction in one national context often resurface, reshaped, in another. By publishing in parallel across Italian, Danish, Finnish, French and Spanish outlets, and continuing to build towards further language editions, the ARENAS Glossary allows readers in different countries to recognise the same underlying strategies as they appear in their own political vocabulary, and gives researchers and journalists across Europe a shared reference point for tracking how these terms evolve.
With five language editions now active and more entries appearing every week or two weeks, the Glossary is fast becoming one of ARENAS’s most visible and widely read outputs. Readers who want to follow along closely can bookmark the category pages above, or keep an eye on the ARENAS website and social channels for updates as new entries and editions are added.
