Professor Claudia Jareño speaks at AECPA Seminar

 

Professor Claudia Jareño of CY Cergy Paris Université will speak at an online seminar hosted by the Spanish Association of Political Science and Administration (AECPA) on Wednesday, November 6th at 4:30 pm CET.  Her presentation is titled “In the name of women’s rights”: gender, femonationalism and the extreme right”, and registration to attend is available at this link.

As part of ARENAS, Professor Jareño has carried out research on the relationship between far-right and anti-feminism. Within the ARENAS project, she works on French cases. She is the co-coordinator of the section on anti-gender narratives for the ARENAS report on the historical roots of extremism.

The (AECPA) was founded in 1993. The purpose of the Association is to disseminate Spanish scientific-political activities abroad and to maintain relations with other entities with similar national or international purposes and its fundamental aims are

  • to promote the development of Political Science and Administration Science
  • to promote their research and
  • to promote scientific and professional cooperation between researchers, teachers and specialists in the field, from a commitment to democracy and human rights.

 

Speaking about her research, Professor Jareño said, “‘It is very important to know how the far-right is using women’s rights to exclude and criminalise groups of people”.
