WOM Srl (Wateronmars) is an Italian technology company specialising in Big Data analytics and Open Source Intelligence (OSINT). WOM develops advanced intelligence solutions to support government, law enforcement, corporate security and intelligence-oriented organisations worldwide. In recent years, the company has gained recognition in the European press for its investigations into information disorder phenomena.
Alessandro (Alex) Orlowski has an impressive career centred on his expertise in analysing
online disinformation and defending democratic values on the Internet. He is the founder and CEO of WOM, a former Italian high-profile innovation start-up and currently an SME company that specialises in big data analytics and OSINT, that operates in the United States, Western Europe, South America, and Eastern Europe. Coordinating WOM’s team of developers, data scientists, and debunkers, it created Metatron Analytics, a Social Media/ Web Listening/Big Data Analytics and OSINT tool that enables accurate monitoring of social networks and any kind of information circulating on the web, deep web, and dark web.
Over the past four years, Alex Orlowski has been repeatedly quoted in the Italian and
European media for his investigations of Information Disorder strategies and BOTnets, in Italy, Spain, and the United States, and how these practices are being used to poison democracies and incite online hatred. Alex Orlowski has been cited o several articles for his
study about extremist organisations and digital strategies and their connection to local 30 groups that support the disinformation efforts of countries outside the European community.
Over the past three years, he has been a guest on Italian television programs such as
Report, Piazza Pulita, le iene, SkyTG24, and Mezz’ora in più. In Europe, he participated in
an investigative program broadcast by the digital channel ARTE and the Spanish program
“Salvados” on the digital channel La Sexta. Prior to becoming an experienced big data and
OSINT analyst, Orlowski was an award-winning communications, marketing and advertising specialist who worked throughout Europe; his career of more than 20 years gave him the opportunity to work and live in the United Kingdom, Lebanon, Spain and Ukraine.
Beyond his business activities, he is also president of a nonprofit organization called
“Stophate and fake,” which aims to help people and organizations defend themselves against hate speech, cyberbullying, and cyber-attacks. He coordinates a team of volunteers that includes well-known debunkers, legal experts and academics.
Genny Paita is the founder of WOM with Alessandro Orlowski and serves as Chairperson of
the Board of Directors. She is an experienced Project Manager, Digital Strategist and Data
Analyst, and a guest speaker at various conferences and seminars such as the
seminar Salone dei Pagamenti – Consorzio Netcomm 2018, where she spoke about digital
fraud, and the conference presenting the big data analysis software Metatron Analytics,
where she spoke about influencer auditing.
She was also a guest lecturer at the MiniDigital Festival at the University of Parma, where she presented the data-driven approach and key studies on influencer auditing, and at LUISS – Libera Università Internazionale degli Studi Sociali Guido Carli – Rome, where she introduced Growth Hacking techniques. She was quoted in Italian debunker David Puente’s book ‘The Great Internet Deception’ where he recounts his case studies, also published by Rolling Stone Italy, in the influencer audit.
Alberto Arati is an experienced data analyst from Parma, Emilia-Romagna, Italy, with a decades-long history of working in the digital business, research and service industries. He has a proven track record in critical discourse studies, data analysis and data visualisation. He is also a media and communications professional being a PhD candidate in qualitative research from the University of Kent from 2013 to 2015.
Currently working as a Senior Critical Discourse Analyst at WOM in addition to a strong academic background in qualitative research, his skills and knowledge extend from political discourse analysis and propaganda to digital intelligence report generation. Experienced and skilled Data Analyst with a passion for analysing data and understanding it through critical discourse analysis and data visualisation. He also has extensive experience in digital marketing and communications, which has given him a deep understanding of KPI-based digital practices. He has been working with the company since 2021.
