ARENAS Podcast launched

Following the successful international conference Going Extreme, hosted by Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (UAB), we are delighted to launch the ARENAS Podcast series. This eight-part podcast series considers the Historical Roots of Extremist Narratives in Europe.  Hosted by Firdaous Alaoui, it has been prepared by the team at (UAB).

Each episode features an expert member of the ARENAS consortium and considers the circumstances and experiences in 10 countries across Europe.  In episode one the host, Firdaous Alaoui, interviews Katalin Miklossy, Head of Eastern European Studies at the University of Helsinki.  They discuss the situation in Hungary and Poland, and how extremism is on the rise in both countries.

New episodes will be released every two weeks for the next few months.  In the second episode, Miguel Ángel del Río Morillas and Segi Soler López of UAB will look at the situation in Spain.  Their discussion reflects on the ‘recycling of the past and constructing the ‘other’’.

The podcast series was co-ordinated by Steven Forti, with the support of recording supervisor, Sergi Soler and historical context producer and sound designer, Gabriel Wahl.

You can access all the podcasts in the series once they are released by visiting the link on our website.
