ARENAS and YOUDARE project teams meet online

Members of the project teams from the Horizon Europe funded ARENAS and YOU-DARE projects recently came together for an online workshop to share perspectives, learn from each other, and explore how both projects complement one another in addressing extremist narratives in Europe.

YOU-DARE is uncovering how far-right youth movements use gender stories to mobilise young people and influence democracy. By tracking how these ideas spread online and offline, the project is creating tools to push back against exclusion and build a stronger, fairer democracy. This project and its objectives align very well with ARENAS, which examines how extremist ideas shape debates around science, gender, and national identity in Europe. The overall aim of both projects is to help people identify these narratives, understand how they are spread and used to challenge democracy, and then develop strategies and tools to combat this challenge.

Together, these projects highlight the European Commission’s ongoing commitment to tackling extremist narratives and supporting democratic resilience across Europe. The recent workshop provided a valuable opportunity to deepen collaboration, exchange expertise, and identify practical ways to turn research into action, strengthening our collective impact in the fight against extremist narratives.

The project teams look forward to meeting again throughout the terms of their respective projects to support each other’s work.
